Welcome CSA Members!
This FAQ post should cover everything you need to know about the upcoming growing season. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me anytime at rootandsproutca@gmail.com.

PICKUP
Pickup is at my home in Brandon, MB. You would have received my address at checkout, but if you can’t find it, please email me at the address above. I’m not posting my address publicly here because I’d like to keep a bit of privacy!
Pickup is every Tuesday starting in July from 4:30–5:30 p.m.
If you arrive a little early, please wait until the garage door is open before coming up. I’m usually scrambling to get the last few items packed right up until 4:30! Once the garage door is open, park safely on the street and come on up — you’ll probably see Aubrey and me sitting in the garage.
All bags are packed and ready to go when you arrive. I’ll have signage for Full Shares and Half Shares, and everyone’s name will be printed on their bag to make pickup quick and easy. I’m usually around to help you find your bag, but if I’ve had to run inside to help Aubrey with something, please feel free to grab it yourself — no need to wait for me.
At each pickup, we’ll also have a trade basket available. If there’s something in your bag that isn’t your thing, feel free to swap it for something from the basket. (Aubrey especially loves explaining this part, so bear with her during the first week!)
We don’t keep track of dollar values for trades — we simply want you to enjoy your veggies. We know not everyone loves every vegetable, so please swap freely and without judgment.
MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT
We are committed to growing the best produce we can for you and your family. We’ll communicate clearly about what’s in your bag each week, be ready and on time for pickup, and stay transparent about our gardening practices, challenges, and celebrations throughout the season.
As a CSA member, we ask that you:
Communicate with us regarding any concerns, things you’re loving, changes to your email address, missed weeks, etc.
Keep an open mind and try new things
Review weekly emails for important updates and information
During the 12-week CSA program, you’ll receive one weekly email that includes:
What’s expected in your bag that week (to the best of my ability!)
Pickup reminders and details
Harvest notes
A recipe featuring something from your share
Garden photos and updates
A link to our Online Market for any add-ons
COMMUNICATION WITH US
If you’re running late but still plan to pick up your bag, please send me an email or DM on Instagram. I can’t promise I’ll see it immediately, but I do my best to check my phone once or twice during pickup hours.
One of my favorite parts of pickup day is getting to catch up with all of you! If you have extra time, I’d love to chat. The Root + Sprout community means a lot to me, and I truly enjoy getting to know our customers better.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T MAKE PICKUP?
Please let me know in advance if possible. You also have a couple of options:
Send a friend or family member in your place (no need to notify me if you choose this option)
Receive a Root + Sprout credit to use in our Online Market throughout the growing season
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A PICKUP?
If you miss a pickup without letting me know ahead of time, I typically can’t offer a credit because the produce has already been harvested, packed, and brought into town. I also then have the added task of finding a new home for it.
If this happens, I’ll send one follow-up email. After that, your bag will be donated to a family in need and the pickup for that week will be forfeited.
Of course, if there’s an emergency or unexpected situation, please reach out and we can figure it out together.
ADD-ONS IN OUR ONLINE MARKET
Once we get into the swing of the season, we often have extras available for purchase that can be added onto your CSA order.
Popular add-ons include:
Beets
Carrots
Peas
Beans
Onions
Broccoli
Potatoes
Squash
Tomatoes
Weekly emails go out on Fridays and include a link to the Online Market. Orders remain open until Sunday at noon.
PRODUCE QUALITY
It’s never our intention to send subpar produce, though occasionally weather or other circumstances (like hailstorms!) can affect quality. Typically, if we’re aware of an issue, we’ll include additional information in the weekly newsletter or discuss it with you at pickup. If you receive something that isn’t up to par, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make adjustments if needed. Photos are always helpful if you’re able to send one.
SHARING
We LOVE seeing how you’re enjoying your produce! Please feel free to share photos, recipes, or stories with us via email or at pickup. If you discover a new favorite recipe, bring it along — I’d love to include it in the newsletter for everyone to enjoy.
I look forward to seeing you at pickups soon!
